By Vijay @ 04:39pm

The Galaxy Note 3, Samsung’s flagship phablet that was unveiled last night, will be launched in India on September 25. A Samsung India spokesperson has confirmed that India is among the list of countries where the Galaxy Note 3 will be launched in the first wave. “The global introduction is on September 25 and India is in the list of countries,” he said.

The Galaxy Note 3 features the latest and greatest hardware specifications on any Samsung smartphone. Despite having a bigger 5.7-inch and higher resolution full HD display, Samsung has managed to keep the device’s footprint the same as the Galaxy Note II that had a 5.5-inch display. The Indian variant of the Galaxy Note 3 is expected to run on the Exynos 5 Octa Core 5420 chipset along with 3GB of RAM. Other features include a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera, 32GB of internal storage with microSD card slot and a 3,200mAh battery.

It will run on Android 4.3 with a new version of TouchWiz on top that brings new features for the S-Pen input. The biggest news, however, is that it would be the first Samsung Galaxy smartphone to not feel plasticky thanks to a faux leather finish on the back panel. Purported photos of iPhone 5C final packaging, manuals indicate imminent launch…

By Vijay @ 06:41pm

After numerous photos and video leaks, a couple of new photos of the Apple iPhone 5C have surfaced on the web that indicate the phones are ready to be shipped. The photos show off a bunch of box-packaged iPhone 5C units and the packaging material including the manual further fuel the rumors surrounding the iPhone 5C’s anticipated launch on September 10.

The photo displaying packed units of the phone was spotted by 9to5mac on iApps.im. The iPhone 5C units in this photo look pretty similar to what the earlier leaked photos and videos have suggested, and the packaging pattern also resembles Apple’s boxing style seen for the colorful iPod touch. The packaging for iPhone in the photo comes with red wallpaper matching to the red chassis of the iPhone 5C which was exposed as one of the five colors of iPhone 5C in earlier photos as well.

In another set of photos that surfaced on Weibo, the packaging material including the SIM card ejection tool, and other details, and a manual script highlighting the ‘iPhone 5C’ have been shown off. The phone in the manual cards in the image comes with a white back, black front bezels, and a white wallpaper which confirm that iPhone 5C’s default wallpaper cover will be the same as its plastic rear casing.

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 5C along with the iPhone 5S on September 10…Ofcourse not official date…

Rumoured Gold iPhone 5S and plastic iPhone 5C compared in a Video

By Vijay @ 10:10pm

By now you must be more than familiar with how the forthcoming iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S are likely to look, according to several leaks. Adding to the already long list, is a video posted by AppAdvice, which shows the back casings of the gold colored iPhone 5S and the blue variant of the iPhone 5C.

About 4 min  long video shows the gold variant of the iPhone 5S alongside the aforementioned blue variant of the iPhone 5C and the two iPhone 5 colors. The iPhone 5S looks strikingly similar to the iPhone 5, with the only visible difference being an elongated flash unit, which could house the dual LED flash module that was leaked earlier. Additionally, the iPhone 5S is also expected to feature an upgraded camera and a fingerprint scanner.

The iPhone 5C plastic back panel, on the other hand, remains consistent with the previous leaks. It is likely to be offered in two variants—codenamed ‘Zenevo’ and the ‘Zagato/Bertone’. The variants are said to look the same but will feature slight differences on the hardware front. Zenovo is reported to feature a dual-core Samsung H5P processor, 1GB of RAM and Bluetooth 4.0, while the Zegato/Bertone, is said to feature an H6P processor and 1GB of RAM, and Bluetooth 4.0.

Additionally, the phone is also expected to sport an 8-megapixel rear camera.

Both the devices are expected to be announced on September 10.

Sony planning to launch Z1 aka Hanomi on September 18th in INDIA

By Vijay @ 09:58pm

Sony Xperia Z1 aka Honami, is going to launch in India on September 18th at an event in New Delhi. Just like the Xperia Z, which was the Japanese giant’s flagship smartphone for the first half of the year, Sony will rope in Bollywood star Katrina Kaif as the brand ambassador for the device. The fact that Sony will launch the Xperia Z1 within two weeks of its global announcement suggests India will be in the first wave of countries where it will be launched.

Notably, the phone will carry a price tag of close to Rs 50,000/- if not more, which might fluctuate depending on the prevailing forex rate. The Xperia Z1 is expected to be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU clocked at 2.2GHz, which will work in tandem with 2GB of RAM and will have a 5-inch 1080p display that will boast Sony’s Triluminus display technology.

The Xperia Z1 is an imaging monolith as it will combine a Cyber-shot branded 20-megapixel sensor that will have Carl Zeiss optics and a Sony G lens that the company reserves for its point and shoot cameras.

Additionally, is also expected to combine Sony’s BIONZ image processing engine and it is expected to be the first phone to be able to shoot video at 4K resolutions. Design wise as the above press image shows, that it could have a metal frame much like the Nokia Lumia 925 and internally it will also have 16GB of memory, a microSD card slot and a 3,000 mAh battery. It will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. We have also heard that the phone will feature an augmented reality app called Info-eye which could work similar to Nokia’s CityLens app on its Lumia devices.

Official YouTube app for Windows Phone is back and now available for both 7.x & 8 devices.

By Vijay @ 01:12pm

Today, Google had released a new version 3.2.0.0 of youtube app which is now live on the Store for Windows Phone 7.x and Windows Phone 8 devices.

The new app looks a lot like the app that was pulled and even includes an upload feature for posting videos directly to the service. That should reassure customers who believe the app would be stripped of functionality (one feature that seems to be missing is downloading of videos).

YouTube

According to the app description, the features include:

  • Pin any video, playlist, channel, and search queries to Live Tiles
  • Manage your YouTube profile with your unique My YouTube page
  • Manage your playlists, uploads, and video lists
  • Find channels, videos, and playlists with the quick access search bar
  • Share videos to your social networks, e-mail, and text messages
  • Let your kids watch safe videos in Kid’s Corner and keep their own profile

The app is now available for older devices too, which is a great win for legacy users who have felt left out lately from Microsoft’s releases.

You can download the now official YouTube app for Windows Phone here in the Store.

Lava teases Iris Pro series (Lava’s high end smartphone) expected on August 25th

By Vijay @ 08:14am

Lava which is one the leading indian electronics company is now teasing the Lava Iris Pro series in a TVC. According to the teaser the phone will be available from August 25 onwards. By the looks of it the main USP of the phone seems to be its all new slim design that seems heavily inspired from the iPhone and also exudes a sense of quality that no other phone from Lava can boast.

This teaser also shows a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, and a HD display. Most probably, this device will feature a MediaTek chipset and will probably feature an upgraded camera module.

Like the Micromax Canvas 4 it appears that the premium design of the Iris Pro series will appeal to the consumer.

Are you eagerly waiting for a high end Blackberry model with larger screen… here is a video leak

By Vijay @ 07:57am

The wide variety of photos of the BlackBerry Z30 leaked since several days and showed how device is likely to look. If that wasn’t enough, CrackBerry has now posted a detailed hands-on video of the forthcoming device.

The video shows the Z30’s exteriors, its innards after removing the back panel and the software running on the device. The 5-minute video is quite detailed and concentrates on every part of the device. There is hardly anything left to know about the device, except its price and date of availability.

This phone might have a major focus on gaming and will have a larger 5-inch 720p AMOLED display. Additionally, it is expected to pack 2GB of RAM and a slightly faster dual-core processor than the Z10. It is also expected to ship running BlackBerry OS 10.2, which will add some new features including a quick settings menu.
